    Who you sell it to

Paid social and performance agencies running Meta and TikTok for DTC, ecommerce, app and local-service clients, especially shops with 5 to 40 active client accounts where one or two creative strategists are the bottleneck. Freelance media buyers who sell 'strategy plus buying' but hate writing briefs. In-house growth teams at brands spending enough on Meta that creative fatigue is a weekly problem.

How to find them: agency owners post constantly on LinkedIn and X about creative testing, hook rates and 'creative is the new targeting'. Search those phrases, look at who runs agency pages with case studies, and check the Meta Ad Library for agencies' own lead-gen ads. Facebook groups and Slack communities for media buyers are full of people asking for brief templates.

Good fit signals: they already talk about 'angles' and 'hooks', they use UGC creators, they bill a creative retainer (industry ranges run roughly $5,000-$8,000/month at a starter creative tier and up to $12,000-$15,000 at scale), and they complain that strategy time is what limits how many clients they can take. Poor fit: agencies that only manage spend and get creative from the client, or anyone without access to customer reviews.

If you sell it, here is the money picture:

The first tile is the value of your client's own jobs, which is the reason they will pay you. The other two tiles are what you charge them.

    How it works

The strategist opens a new brief for a client campaign and works through five short steps. First, paste the landing page URL and the app reads the offer, prices, guarantee and proof points. Second, add competitors.

The app pulls their ads from Meta's official Ad Library API where Meta makes them available (commercial ads that ran in the EU or UK) and lets you paste text or drop in screenshots for everything else, which an AI vision model reads into structured fields. Third, paste or upload customer reviews for the client and for competitors (Trustpilot Business and Google Business Profile exports both work). Fourth, add audience notes, compliance limits and any past winning ads.

Then it runs the pipeline. It mines the reviews for pains, desires, objections, trigger moments and exact customer phrases, each backed by real quotes. It classifies every competitor ad by angle and builds a heatmap showing which messages are crowded and which ones customers care about but no competitor is running.

It groups customers into situation-based personas. For each persona it writes hooks that name the persona in the first line, spread across at least 6 hook structures, each checked against 'could a competitor run this unchanged?' and against Meta's personal attributes policy. It then writes concepts for static, UGC, talking head and carousel, copy variants in three lengths, a creator brief with a numbered shot list, and a test matrix with ad names the media buyer can use in Ads Manager.

Everything is editable, every hook links back to the review quote it came from, and the client gets a branded share link to approve or decline concepts.

    What to expect

A first brief generates in minutes once inputs are in, compared with the hours a strategist normally spends reading reviews and scrolling the Ad Library by hand. The output is a strong first draft that a strategist edits and approves. Expect to cut or rewrite a share of hooks on every brief, which is fine: the value is the mined language, the whitespace map and the structure.

Quality depends on inputs. With fewer than 30 reviews the personas are rough and the app says so. The Meta Ad Library API only returns commercial ads delivered to the EU or UK, so for US-only competitors the strategist pastes or screenshots ads from the public Ad Library website.

API access also needs the Facebook account behind the token to complete Meta's identity confirmation, which takes a few days, so start it on day one.

No tool guarantees winning ads. What agencies report from this kind of workflow is more angles tested per month and fewer 'we tried that already' briefs. Plan for a 2-week pilot on 2 live client accounts before rolling out agency-wide.

Once wrapped as a native app through AppBuild.DIY, strategists get push notifications the moment a brief is ready or a client approves a concept, and can screenshot a competitor ad on their phone and drop it straight into a brief, which is how most competitor research really happens.
