Pet Grooming Salons, AI Coat Check Photo Quote & Right-Length Booking Tool

Dog owners photograph their pet's coat before booking. The app grades the matting, quotes the dematting surcharge upfront, books a slot sized to the real groom time, and collects rabies proof and a deposit before the dog ever arrives.

    Build it yourself, free

This blueprint is free. Copy the master prompt below, build it with your own time, and the only outlay is a few low-cost tool subscriptions. Use it inside your own business, or sell it to clients. The numbers further down are what you can charge, not what you pay.

    Who you sell it to

Independent grooming salons and small local chains (1-3 locations) with 2+ groomers, booked out a week or more, still taking bookings by phone and Instagram DM. Find them on Google Maps: search 'dog groomer' in any suburb and filter for 4.0-4.7 star ratings, then read the 1-star reviews. The ones complaining about 'surprise charges', 'they shaved my dog without asking' or 'couldn't get through on the phone' are your list, because this app is built to kill exactly those three complaints.

Good fit signals: a 'matted dogs charged extra' line buried in their Instagram bio or FAQ (they already have the policy, they just enforce it at pickup, where it hurts), lots of doodle photos in their feed (doodles are the highest-matting, highest-ticket segment), and no online booking link at all. Poor fit: mobile-only solo groomers with no fixed calendar pressure, and corporate chains (PetSmart, Petco) with their own systems.

If you sell it, here is the money picture:

The first tile is the value of your client's own jobs, which is the reason they will pay you. The other two tiles are what you charge them.

What your client's own work is worth
$45-$120 per groom (average ~$75; doodles and double coats $95-$160+). A client kept on a 5-6 week rebook cycle is worth $340-$850+ per year, and $3,500+ over the pet's life.
    Their revenue, not your fee
    Setup fee you charge
    $2,000-$3,500
    One-off, paid to you
    Monthly retainer you charge
    $297-$497
    Recurring, paid to you

    How it works

The owner taps the salon's booking link and takes 3 guided photos of their dog: full body, a close-up of the worst area (the app tells them to check behind the ears, the armpits and the hindquarters, which is where mats hide), and the face. An AI vision model grades the matting 0-3 and spots the problem areas. The app then quotes a price range from the salon's own price matrix plus the dematting surcharge at the salon's own rate, so a matted doodle sees '$95-$125' before booking instead of discovering it at pickup.

Severe matting triggers a consent screen explaining a humane shave-down may be needed, acknowledged before a slot is even offered. The owner then uploads the rabies certificate (the app reads the expiry date off the photo and blocks bookings for expired vaccines), picks from slots sized to the actual estimated groom time, and pays a deposit that applies to the final bill. The salon's dashboard shows every booking with photos and grade before the dog arrives, lets staff override a grade (the owner gets an automatic text if the price changes), and runs a rebook engine that texts every client 5 weeks after their groom with a one-tap rebooking link.

Final price is confirmed face to face at drop-off, which the photos turn into a 10-second formality.

    What to expect

The pilot proves three numbers inside 60 days. First, pickup disputes drop to roughly zero on photo-assessed bookings, because the surcharge conversation happened at booking; this is the thing the owner feels immediately. Second, no-shows fall hard: deposits plus 24-hour and 2-hour reminders typically cut the industry's chronic no-show problem by half or more, and each prevented no-show saves a 2-4 hour slot.

Third, the 5-week rebook nudge pulls clients back onto cycle: a dog that drifts from 6-week to 10-week grooming costs the salon 3+ grooms a year, so even 30 converted nudges a month is $2,000+ of recovered revenue. Expect the AI grading to need tuning in the first 2 weeks (doodle and double coats are the hard cases; the dashboard logs every staff override so you can measure accuracy honestly), and expect to hold the salon's hand on A2P 10DLC registration before live texting works. Caveat to set upfront: the AI estimate is a range, not a contract, and the groomer always confirms the final price at drop-off.

Salons that skip entering their real price matrix get bad quotes and blame the app, so make step 9 of the build non-negotiable.
